Second Hand Pets

Meet Mambo. His owner Erika shops at Raspberry Beret in Cambridge pretty regularly so he visits quite a bit. We all love him, especially when he comes in wearing cute his cute little raincoat.

Erika adopted Mambo from The Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, MA. We wanted to give them, and Erika, a shout out because we think second hand shopping is always awesome - for clothing AND adorable little pups!

The Northeast Animal Shelter, established in 1976, is one of New England's largest nonprofit shelters that does not destroy any of the pets entrusted to its care. They have placed thousands of dogs and cats since they opened their doors.

Northeast Animal Shelter is located just a half hour north of Boston and easily accessible to all of New England. Being open 7 days a week makes the adoption of a pet convenient for the general public and enables them to place all their homeless dogs and cats. As soon as a dog or cat arrives at their facility, their staff begins searching for the perfect match -- a family who is just right and will give the pet a wonderful home. While waiting for a forever home, their dogs and cats receive the best of care.

  1. First let me just say that Mambo is about the cutest little fellah I've ever seen!

Second, I'm afraid some people might be offended to hear adopting shelter pets referred to as "secondhand shopping" - I myself am not, but I know some people can be pretty sensitive about such things!

  2. Caitlin - thanks so much for your comment. I hear you, we certainly don't want to offend anybody - especially anyone who wants to do something as wonderful as rescue an animal. Point taken and definitely appreciated.
