Spring has arrived at Raspberry Beret! We just borrowed these big beautiful hand made paper flowers from a friend and put them in the windows of our Cambridge store. Don't they look great?

Upcycled Sweaters

So, we may or may not be having a gigantic end of season sale starting tomorrow.  Okay - WE ARE!  Everything in both of our stores will be half off from Wednesday, February 20th through the 24th!!!!  Hooray!  End of season sales are not only a great way to get amazing deals on fabulous clothes, but it's also a fun way to get some great items that you can upcycle into even greater items.

Let's take sweaters...we've found some great ideas on Pinterest recently that look like they'd be super fun to try out.  Take a look and check out our Upcycled Board on our Pinterest page.

Maternity Style - Print Dress

I picked up this BCBG dress in our Cambridge store to wear on Thanksgiving a couple of years ago.  It's the perfect dress for minimizing a baby bump for two reasons - the print and the hang.

There is enough going on with the all over flowing stripe pattern that the eye isn't necessarily drawn to one area of the dress.  For my purposes, that's a good thing.  The dress has a dropped waist and a loose hang which gives me plenty of room for a growing belly.

BCBG does make maternity clothes.  The dresses are between $120-$250.  I got this non-maternity BCBG dress for only $38 AND I'll be able to wear it well into my pregnancy and afterward.  Ha!  Got to love second hand shopping.

Cost Per Wearing

I just saw a blog post on the How To Consign Blog that talked about something called 'cost per wearing'. If you're on a budget, it's a great way to help you figure whether something you love is really worth buying.

Right now there is an adorable pair of nude Seychelles wedges in our Cambridge store that I'm lusting over. I want them so badly, but they're dangerously high (for me) and not very practical. I should preface that statement with the fact that I have an almost three year old and I'm currently 5 months pregnant. The chances of me wearing these shoes this summer are ridiculously slim.

On the other hand, the shoes are only $24. Could I wear them 3 times this year? Maybe. If I do and I wear them 7 times next summer, that works out to be $2.40 per wear. Is that worth it? Well, when you put it that way - YES!

It's decided. If they're still there tomorrow (please be there, please be there) I'm getting the shoes.

What do you think of this system? Have you tried it before? Does it work for you or just make you buy more stuff?

Maternity Style - Fold Over Jeans!

I found these AMAZING non-maternity jeans by Jolt in the Cambridge store a few months ago and have seriously been wearing them almost every day for weeks.  They're stretchy and have a fold over waist - what could be better than that?

I've been searching the web for other styles with the same waist but haven't had much luck other than on ebay but not in my size. It seems that Jolt has discontinued them which is incredibly sad because they really are perfect and flattering for anybody - pregnant or not.
