Indo-Western Vintage Clothing

The following is a guest post by Raavi Sharma from BarCode91 in India.  It's always fun to learn about and be inspired by fashion styles in different parts of the world.  Enjoy!

Of the emerging and new-age trends in Indian fashion, the Indo-Western style has made a different place for itself. The subtle fusion of Western and South Asian fashion has produced magical results like Indo-Western gowns, ethnic maxi dresses, dhoti pants and many more. Like most fashion trends, this particular style too has spread it's wings wide, not restricted to a particular style of clothing. From sarees to lehengas to salwar kameez, designers across the globe have experimented with different styles of Indian Dresses and created a beautiful amalgamation of Indian and western trends.

However, 'Indo-Western' may now seem to be a dated term in the fashion world. Designers believe that this term restricts the creative ability and scope that the fusion trend has to offer. The trend, many famous Indian designers admit, encompasses something much more vast and global. Taking inspiration from different eras of fashion across the world and bringing them together with prevalent Indian dresses, trends, attires, motifs and designs, has created a Indo-Western Vintage fashion. A style statement that take this Indian-Global fusion to a whole new level.

For those who'd love to experiment and yet not lose the traditional Indian charm and class, this vintage fashion is a boon. Imagine a mix of gorgeous vintage prints and fabrics clubbed with the latest western trends - for instance this beautiful team up of palazzo pants and a full sleeves ethnic checkered suit.

Needless to say, it is the best way to make a bold fashion statement. A growing love and much pride for India’s textile heritage is one of the primary but definitely not the only reason for designers experimenting with this sartorial fusion. What is fascinating is how this obsession with Indian heritage is spreading across the world, what with more and more people experimenting with the trend everyday.
